Family care begins with permission

A shared membership should make support simpler while keeping each person’s records and choices distinct.

Support and privacy can belong together

Families often coordinate practical care: finding a report, preparing a visit or remembering a follow up. Those helpful actions do not automatically require unrestricted access to every piece of someone’s health information.

A shared subscription is a commercial arrangement. Permission to read or share a record is a separate question. Keeping that distinction clear helps people understand what they have agreed to.

Ask the specific question

Who needs access? To what information? For which purpose? For how long? Does the person have the relevant authority? Local rules about guardians, dependents and capacity also matter. A family label alone cannot answer those questions.

NHS family and carer access provides one example of configured proxy permissions. It illustrates the principle that access can have defined levels and can change; it is not a universal legal rule or proof of Afiyah’s implementation.

Keep the person at the center

Afiyah’s design separates family profiles, records and AI context. Prime and Ever propose shared usage for up to four profiles, while sharing remains subject to the person, relationship and permission.

Use the consent and family access notice to understand the intended boundaries. If you need a correction, access change or privacy response, use the published privacy contact rather than pasting another person’s health details into the public website chat.

A small checklist to keep

  • Confirm whose profile you are using.
  • Check what access has actually been authorized.
  • Review permissions when roles or circumstances change.
